Community members are encouraged to volunteer with the Pleasant Gap Fire Company.  We have three classes of volunteer membership – Active, Associate and Auxiliary EMS. For all types of membership, please complete the appropriate sections of the application.

PGFD Membership Application

Active

Active Members must live in our coverage area (Pleasant Gap portions of Spring Township and almost all of Walker Township).  Active members may serve in any capacity including Fire, Fire Police and EMS response, participate in fundraising activities, and after the one year probationary period, may hold elected office in the fire company. Active members have voting rights at the company meeting.  Active members maintain their membership by paying annual dues and may continue their active membership even if they move outside the coverage area.  Active members become Life members after 25 years of service.  Active members are eligible for the live-in program.

Associate

Associate Members may live outside our coverage area. Associate members may serve in any capacity excluding Fire and Fire Police response.  Associate members may participate in EMS response, participate in fundraising activities, and after the one year probationary period, may hold elected office in the fire company. Associate members have voting rights at the company meeting. Applicants for our Live-In program generally complete an Associate Member application and are then converted to Active membership when they move in to the station.  Associate members become Life members after 25 years of service.

Junior Member

Junior Members must meet the same qualifications as Active or Associate members. Junior members may apply at 16 years of age and must have parental consent. Junior members are restricted from certain kinds of firefighting activities and have limits on the time they are allowed to volunteer. On their 18th birthday, Junior members become regular Active or Associate members, and may complete their 1 year probationary period if still not completed.

Auxiliary EMS

This class of membership allows for qualified ambulance personnel to volunteer with our ambulance service.  Auxiliary EMS members do not have voting rights. Auxiliary EMS members are approved by the ambulance captain. Auxiliary EMS members may participate in EMS response and fundraising activities, but do not have voting rights at the company meeting.
