On Saturday, April 16, Engine 810 and Ambulance 852, along with various apparatus from area fire and EMS companies, lined West Branch Road to support the Firefighter 5K Run/Walk event. Several PGFD members and their families also participated in the run/walk event. The event was held to support local emergency personnel in their time of need, with this year’s beneficiary being Company 8 firefighter and Safety Officer Gregg Heny. Sincere condolences to our brothers in Port Matilda
The officers and members of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company wish to give our sincerest condolences and sympathy to our brothers and sisters in Port Matilda. Chad Reedy lost his battle with cancer yesterday, September 15. Chad served as the assistance safety officer for Port Matilda. He will be missed by all who was touched by his life.
Sunday Sept. 19th starting at 2pm, there will be a special remembrance ceremony for Chad Reedy. The Ceremony will be held at the Port Matilda Fire Hall. All are welcome to attend.

09/14/2010 Mutual Aid: Box 114 Specialized Rescue
Shortly after 0500 hours, Centre County Communications alerted company 8 for an Ambulance and Rescue 818 due to the scene at 500 Pleasant Valley blvd for a specialized rescue, a man over an embankment with a fractured leg. Rescue 818 staged at the Pacific Pride, and was called to assist in carrying the patient to the awaiting BLS unit for transport to Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Units operated on scene for approximately 1 hour.

Mutual Aid: Dwelling Fire Spring Township
Early Friday Morning 4-June, around 00:00 HRS, Company 8 was dispatched to assist company 56 with a dwelling fire. Rescue 818 and Tanker 819 were initially due on the call. Due to the large volume of fire and the structure being vacant, a defensive attack was initiated. Engine 810 was later called to provide the water supply from a drop-tank, and additional tankers were requested to accomplish the necessary water supply.
Around 1200 the next day, Tanker 819 and rescue 818 were called back to the scene to assist with a small spot fire at the same scene.

Interstate 99 Single Vehicle Accident
Around 1440 hours Centre County Emergency Communications (911) alerted Ambulance 8 and Rescue 8 for a motor vehicle accident around the 79.5 Mile Marker on northbound I99. Firefighter Packer arrived on scene prior to additional emergency personnel. With the assistance of an out of county volunteer firefighter, ff Packer preformed a patient assessment, and maintained c-spine. The patient was just entangled with the brake pedal of the vehicle, so the two firefighters assisted the patient with self extraction. They continued patient care until Medic 24 arrived on scene, and assumed patent care.
Initially dispatched as having entrapment, Engine Rescue 114 was added to the box, which was released after determining that the patient was not entrapped. PGFD personnel assisted with patient packaging and scene control until the patient was transported to MNMC and the towing company had retrieved the vehicle.
Units remained on scene for approximately 15 minutes

Local Box 840 Dwelling Fire
Around 22:00 hours Centre County Emergency Dispatch Alerted Company 8 and Truck 216 for a dwelling fire on B Dobson lane in potter township. Chief 800 arrived on scene to find a flue fire. Units returned around 23:30 hours
