Seeking Part Time Paid and Volunteer Live-in EMTs

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company is now accepting applications for both Part Time Paid and Volunteer live-in EMTs for our ambulance service. Both positions require:

  • PA EMT-B
  • CPR Professional (or Healthcare Provider) with AED
  • Hazmat Operations Level
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations

All applicants will be subject to a criminal background investigation.

Hourly wages for part-time employees will depend on experience.

Applicants may stop at the station to apply in person. If you have questions about the part-time positions, please contact captain860@fire.com. Questions about the live-in program can be directed to live-in@fire8.com.

In Memory of Joe Pringle and Walter Regel

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company announces the passing of two of its Life Members this week. Joseph Pringle passed away on February 5. and Walter Regel passed away on February 2. Both died at their respective homes in unrelated events.

Several members of the fire company attended Walter’s visitation on February 5.

Members will be gathering at the fire station on Wednesday, February 8th at 1800 hours to attend Joe’s visitation.

The thoughts and prayer of our members and community go out to the families during their time of grief.

Applications for new Live-Ins

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company is accepting applications for new live-in members. Requirements for live-ins include PA-EMT, HAZMAT-Ops, CPR and EVOC. Full-time students, part time students with part-time jobs and applicants with full-time jobs will be considered. Driver’s license and personal mode of transportation (car) is required.

Live-ins receive free room (shared dorm-style room) and access to the station’s kitchen, lounge, and laundry facilities. Live-ins pay for their own food and laundry supplies. Live-ins are required to provide 32 hours per week of EMS coverage.

This is a perfect opportunity for a Penn State or Lock Haven University student who is an EMT.

Applications will be accepted starting immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. We have two positions open immediately and will have a third position open starting in May, 2012.

Standby at Station 5 for Jack Zook’s Funeral

On October 19, 2011, Pleasant Gap Fire Company was requested to standby at Alpha Fire Company, Station 5 while members attended the funeral of Jack Zook. Engine/Rescue 814 transferred with a crew of six from 12:00 to 16:30 hours. The residents of State College and surrounding townships were well-behaved for our visit and held all emergencies until after our standby was over.

2nd Annual Firefighter’s Challenge. PG takes 3rd

This weekend the 2nd annual Firefighter’s Challenge was held at the Centre County Fire Training Center. A team from Pleasant Gap consisting of Mike Marini, Derek Hoover, and Clint Ripka competed in the event. Their first run had beat the course record, however, their time was overtaken by the Logans (Bellefonte), in the second round. “The Gappers” brought home the 3rd place trophy. Congratulations to the team on their excellent work, and good exhibition of the skills of our fire department.

Congratulations to Hillary and Clint Ripka

The Pleasant Gap Fire Company Family would like to congratulate Hillary and Clint Ripka on their marriage!  Mr. and Mrs. Ripka tied the knot on Saturday, April 30 in the company of their family and friends.  We with them a very happy future together!

A special thanks to Scott Meyers for chauffeuring Engine 810 for the couple’s wedding!
